We are looking for a freelance Digital Producer

We’re looking to recruit a new freelance Digital Producer to help propel us forward and ‘set our digital course’ – someone who’s a natural and easy communicator, possibly from a journalism background, who has experience of building online engagement with and across niche communities, is passionate about independent music and has ‘good ears’.

The role’s a freelance one, equivalent to 2 days a week. We can be pretty flexible about when you work and from where, although there will be some meetings at our Colchester base, and a fair number of days spent at events in London. The contract will ideally run from September 2013-June 2015, and the fee is equivalent to £25k per annum (pro rata).

Our Digital Producer will play a leading role in a new national project we’re launching in November 2013. Called Joining the Dots, this project will test new ‘game changing’ models for financing, commissioning and presenting independent music, as well as provide new live and digital professional development and networking opportunities for those working in the ‘beyond mainstream’ music sector.

Our partners on JTD are The Guardian Culture Professionals Network, Kings College London and EFDSS, and our funders Arts Council England, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Kings College and Musicians’ Union.

It’s a massively exciting time to be part of the hub team, as we prepare to launch Joining the Dots, and with a raft of other projects in the pipeline. Our new Digital Producer will be central to the successful delivery of our new sector-facing online presence as well as the development of the hub’s wider digital activity, so it’s a great role for someone who’s looking to develop his/her editorial and leadership experience and – crucially – to work more creatively, developing digital projects from scratch as part of a small creative team that’s looking to grow over the next few years.

The closing date for applications is Monday 26 August, and interviews will be on 2 September, at our Colchester base.
