Developed by the Association of Independent Music, Music Connected was a £750K two-year skills and business development programme, funded by the London Development Agency, which aimed to support London’s music businesses and entrepreneurs to maximise the commercial opportunities provided by digital technologies.
Having previously worked with AIM on the initial development and programme plan for Music Connected, we were asked by them to carry out the programme evaluation. To do this, we used the following methodology:
- Review of applicant and participant data, collected at point of application, and also data collected via diagnostic 1-1s which took place as part of the business advisory strand
- Online survey of participants
- Phone interviews with a sample of respondents
- Development of depth case studies
These were compiled into a final report, which was subsequently cited and used by the LDA as an example of best practice, with AIM’s lead contact at the LDA stating: “The evaluation team has reviewed the evaluation report and for the very first time in my 4 years here they actually signed an evaluation that I submitted without asking for any further comments, clarifications or whatsoever! A massive thanks and well done to you and the team!”
