Sound, Music, Visual: creative producing in multi-disciplinary contexts

Tate Britain, 3 October 2014

A New Music Plus event at Tate Britain

Presented by Tate and PRS for Music Foundation in association with the hub

12.45pm-6.15pm

The last decade has seen a rise in interdisciplinary events across the arts sector. This half-day conference examines the motivations of artists, producers and institutions to work in these contexts, and asks where is this interdisciplinary practice headed? What impact has the rise of this work had on artists and musicians choosing to take on the role of creative producer? How is this work received, understood and experienced by audiences?

Highlights include:

  • ArtAngel’s Michael Morris and artist Jem Finer in conversation, exploring the intricacies of their working partnership as well as the bigger issues.
  • Lisa Meyer (Capsule), Sarah Martin (Turner Contemporary), Dr Victoria Walsh (Royal College of Art) and Dr Dan Glaser (Science Gallery London, King’s College) looking at how creative producers can be catalysts for new inter-disciplinary practice.
  • Musicians Sam Lee and Matthew Herbert, United Visual Artists’ Matthew Clark, composer Claudia Molitor and PAL’s director, Roanne Dods, exploring how and why artists make the transition to producer, and when it is it right for them to do so.

Tickets priced £15 are available now.
