New Music Plus…

  • Supports independent music producers and arts organisations to diversify their artistic programmes and engage new audiences.
  • Developed in partnership with PRS for Music Foundation, we’ve worked with leading arts organisations around the UK.

New Music Plus...UK

12 emerging music producers and 12 arts organisation from around the UK learning from and working with each other to make incredible things happen.

New Music Plus…, developed in partnership with PRS for Music Foundation, supports the development of independent music producers and arts organisations who want to diversify their artistic programmes and engage new audiences.

Participating producers benefit from: a bespoke training course, delivered by members of the hub team; mentoring; a 12 month ‘co-production’ placement with a ‘host’ organisation; regular networking sessions, and a business development bursary. ‘Host’ organisations get to work with one of our producers and participate in the training and networking sessions.

Between 2009 and 2011 we delivered programmes in London and North West England. From mash-ups in planetariums, to short-wave radio processions on the streets of Liverpool, drummers in art galleries and sonic journeys at festivals, creative collaborations broke new ground and touched new audiences. 2012 saw the launch of a UK-wide programme, which will run until late 2014, and which has already included a musical hackday on a farm, a wind-driven installation in a church, an outdoor winter festival and a human drum machine. So far, we’ve supported 56 producers and curators.

New Music Plus…UK is an initiative developed by PRS for Music Foundation in association with the hub, with support from Arts Council England, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Esmeé Fairbairn Foundation, PRS for Music Foundation, Creative Scotland, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Arts Council Wales.

New Music Plus... North West was supported by Arts Council England, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Sound and Music and PRS for Music Foundation. New Music Plus... London was supported by Arts Council England, the Cultural Leadership Programme, Sound and Music and PRS for Music Foundation.
